Residential Therapist

STATEMENT OF THE JOB:

Under the direct supervision of the Residential Clinical Manager, the Residential Therapist is responsible for providing therapeutic and case management services for youth and families on your caseload (serving high acuity youth with backgrounds of trauma).  Residential Therapist serves as the Head of Service for the facility to which they are assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate induvial and family therapy for all youth on your caseload of 6-7 clients.
  • Engage in a multidisciplinary team including weekly case care coordination with internal team including residential and school staff, psychiatric services as well as any outside providers.
  • Evaluate client's progress and treatment goals through monthly child and family team meetings while completing and updating necessary documentation. 
  • Communicate as the primary clinical point of contact with caregivers and outside providers and facilitate internal and external meetings during the course of treatment.
  • Assist the Admissions Department with completion of assessments, plan development and risk assessment when needed.
  • Complete appropriate documentation for youth in timely manner in EHR and complete 20 hours of billable services each week.
  • Follow CALAIM compliance as well as state and residential licensing entities including initial authorization assessments.
  • Completes authorization packets for youth, on-going assessments, and discharge paperwork for assigned clients.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures including, but not limited to, HIPAA, PHI, Mandated Reporter Status & Procedures, Professional Relationships with Youth & Non-Minor Dependents, and all other Federal and State laws.
  • Therapists are not required to be ?on-call? 24/7 but instead participate in an on-call therapist rotation for crisis needs when they arise after hours. These are on-call duties that can be conducted from home after core business hours.
  • Compliance will be maintained with Head of Service requirements as outlined in the most current version of the DHCS mental health licensing standards (see attached STRTP addendum for specific requirements).
  • Other reasonable tasks as assigned.

JOB EXPECTATIONS:

  • Attends scheduled in-service training programs.
  • Attends weekly team meetings as applicable.
  • Demonstrates adherence to policies and procedures involving Privacy Practices (HIPAA compliance)
  • Practices good judgement and takes initiative.
  • Works cooperatively with others in a team-oriented manner.
  • Completes assigned program operational tasks in accordance with supervisory directives.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Must participate in Performance Quality Improvement and Risk Prevention.
  • Provides and practices trauma-informed care services and modalities while actively using empathy and understanding in treatment of individuals or other tasks assigned.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted California Driver's License; personal automobile liability insurance; and a driving record acceptable to Summitview's insurance carrier.
  • Must be willing to present a recent negative Tuberculosis test or be willing to take one.
  • TheCOVID-19 vaccination inclusive of booster doses are strongly suggested but not required.
  • Must be willing to complete and pass a Department of Justice (DOJ) personal background investigation to meet the requirements of our state licensing agency Community Care Licensing (CCL).

QUALIFICATIONS:

COMPENSATION: 

$74,000 - $100,000

OTHER:

  • Employment is at-will.
  • This is a full-time exempt position.
  • Work hours may require flexibility depending on the needs of the client, but the expectation is 40 hrs. per week.
  • Position follows Wage Order 5 overtime rules.

STRTP ADDENDUM:

The head of service is responsible for the STRTP mental health program's compliance with these regulations and applicable laws. The head of service shall manage the clinical and administrative components of the STRTP mental health program. The head of service's responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to, the following specific tasks:

(1) Maintaining a safe, healthy, and therapeutic environment at the STRTP.

(2) Ensuring that each child admitted to the program has a mental health assessment.

(3) Ensuring that each child in the STRTP has commonality of needs with the other children in the STRTP, including whether the child's presence is adverse to the safety or mental health needs of the child or other children admitted to the STRTP.

(4) Ensuring the mental health services identified on each treatment plan are provided and appropriate to meet the individual needs of the child.

(5) Monitoring the quality of the mental health services provided to the children.

(6) Making arrangements, including transportation, for children to receive mental health services that cannot be provided by the STRTP.

(7) Arrangements for special provision of mental health services to children with disabilities including visual and auditory impairment.

(8) Ensuring that documentation and recordkeeping requirements are met.

(9) Development of mental health staff schedules, training schedules, mental health treatment service schedules, medication schedules, and any other schedules for the operation of the STRTP mental health program.
