RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides 1:1 or small group instruction consistent with lesson plans.

• Ensures safety of assigned students through assisting in classroom behavior management system and direct supervision.

• Assists in the preparation and care of instructional materials and equipment.

• Performs duties as assigned by the teacher and/or Supervisor including taking attendance, taking inventory, and ordering supplies.

• Acts in the capacity of substitute teacher if appropriately credentialed.

• Participates in student outings.

• Transportation of students to and from residential facilities to school Mon - Fri mornings.

• Ability to provide supervision and lessons at students' residential facility instead of classroom based upon student's needs or weather conditions.

• Effectively communicates with residential and management staff.

• Familiarity with NCASES standards and provision of services in alignment with NCASES national accreditation.

• Uploading daily progress notes into the electronic health record.

• Expected to meet all documentation requirements including any minimum standard set for billable hours.

• Passing/transporting & recording passed medications in compliance with standards.

• Responsible for opening their assigned youth residence and aiding in transitioning the clients from residence to classroom.

• Other reasonable tasks as assigned.

• Completes assigned program operational tasks in accordance with supervisory directives.
• Effectively communicates with residential and management staff.
• Regular attendance and punctuality is essential for role; with notice to supervisor of planned and unplanned absences in a timely manner.
• Sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
• Works cooperatively with others in a team-oriented manner.
• Must participate in Performance Quality Improvement and Risk Prevention.
• Provides and practices trauma-informed care services and modalities with actively using empathy and understanding in treatment of individuals.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must possess a valid, unrestricted California Driver's License; personal automobile liability insurance; and a driving record acceptable to Summitview's insurance carrier.
• Must be physically and mentally fit; must be willing to complete a health screening including physical examination as required by our state licensing agency Community Care Licensing (CCL); and must have the unrestricted capacity to employ physical restraint techniques in a professionally safe manner.
• Must be willing to present a recent negative Tuberculosis test or be willing to take one.
• COVID-19 vaccination inclusive of booster doses are encouraged but not required.
• Must be willing to complete and pass a Department of Justice (DOJ) personal background investigation to meet the requirements of our state licensing agency Community Care Licensing (CCL).

Qualifications:

• 12 credits in behavioral health or related subjects, ECE or Special Education preferred.
• Previous experience working in a classroom environment or working directly with Special Education students preferred.
• Previous experience working with youth with complex mental health behaviors preferred.
