Mental Health Specialist II - Awake Night
Pay Rate: $22/hour Additional $1.00/hour (Shift Differential)
Available schedule: Wednesday-Saturday 10:00pm-8:00am
STATEMENT OF THE JOB
Under the direct supervision of the Administrator, the Mental Health Specialist Awake Night is responsible for ensuring the facility remains in full compliance with Community Care Licensing (CCL) and all other applicable regulatory requirements. In addition, the Mental Health Specialist provides direct care and maintains consistent supervision of youth residing in Summitview's residential treatment homes, as well as day students attending Summitview Academy, ensuring their safety and well-being in accordance with Summitview's guidelines, policies, and therapeutic standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures the safety and supervision of youth in accordance with Summitview's policies and guidelines.
- Implements and adheres to individual treatment plans using agency-approved therapeutic interventions.
- Supervises and participates in residents' daily activities, including within the Non-Public School (NPS) setting, Therapeutic Day Program groups, and scheduled community outings, following all related policies, procedures, safety directives, and daily schedules.
- Facilitates, transports and supervises planned community outings aligned with treatment goals.
- Ensures youths' physical needs are met by overseeing hygiene and grooming routines and promptly reporting any potential health or safety concerns, including transporting youth to seek medical attention or to scheduled appointments.
- Maintains facility cleanliness and organization in accordance with Summitview policies, procedures, and Community Care Licensing (CCL) regulations.
- Assist in passing medications and documenting youths medication usage per agency procedures, monitors medication compliance and behavior trends; reports progress.
- Ensures residents receive nutritionally balanced meals, assistance with meal planning, preparation, clean-up, and proper food storage.
- Accurately inputs, maintains, and updates electronic health records for all residents in accordance with Summitview policy.
- Performs Facility Manager duties in accordance with CCL regulations when the Administrator or Assistant Administrator is not present.
- Complete Daily Cleaning and Operational tasks assigned to the Awake Night.
- Prepare and store food in accordance with Community Care Licensing regulations.
- Prepare the following days' lunches per guidelines in the Awake Night Duties Policies.
- Prepare the following days breakfast following the menu.
- Prepare the following days dinner following the menu, unless a special meal (birthday, etc.) is planned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB EXPECTATIONS
- Follows agency policies regarding crisis intervention and appropriate de-escalation techniques as well as behavior management policies.
- Comply with all agency policies and legal requirements, including HIPAA, PHI, Mandated Reporting, Professional Boundaries, and all applicable state and federal regulations.
- Attends required in-service training and weekly team meetings.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds of the youth and families served.
- Participate in Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) and Risk Prevention initiative and activities.
- Provides trauma-informed care, utilizing empathy, consistency, and appropriate therapeutic practices.
- Manages time effectively to complete required documentation and assigned projects.
- Works collaboratively and professionally within a team environment.
- Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
- Exercises sound judgment and initiative in daily responsibilities.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess a valid, unrestricted California Driver's License, proof of personal automobile liability insurance, and a driving record acceptable to Summitview's insurance carrier.
- Must be physically and mentally fit and willing to complete a health screening, including a physical exam, as required by Community Care Licensing (CCL).
- Must have unrestricted capacity to safely perform physical restraint techniques when required.
- Must have a recent negative Tuberculosis (TB) test or be willing to obtain one.
- Must be willing to complete and pass a Department of Justice (DOJ) personal background investigation to meet the requirements of our state licensing agency Community Care Licensing (CCL).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent required; higher education preferred.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Two years of experience as social work staff in a Group Home or Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP), or relevant lived experience.
OTHER
- Employment is at-will.
- This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position.
- 24/7 staffing coverage is required; shift schedules vary based on agency needs.
